Thanksgiving Tablescape in Navy, Burgundy and Gold

    By spaganelli | Uncategorized | 0 comment | 8 November, 2016 | 0

This year I reused some of the same things I made or used from some of my previous tablescapes, but I tried something completely new to me and which I’m so proud of…. a floral centerpiece!

    Thanksgiving Table 18

I had some wedding centerpiece pics as inspiration, and I seriously studied the shape, pattern, and floral placement for awhile before I attempted it. That wasn’t because it was super difficult, but more because I overthink everything!  haha… I used only flowers I found at the grocery store: seeded eucalyptus, white roses, some burgundy flowers (someone help me out with their name?), hydrangea, and then some edible element: plums, and blackberries.

    Thanksgiving Table 17

The plums and blackberries I just stuck on skewers and shoved in the wet foam.

    Thanksgiving Table 2

The navy runner is from last year’s thanksgiving tablescape, and I decided to layer it on top of a drop cloth runner, then put some thrifted lace doilies (is that what they are called?) on top.

    Thanksgiving Table 19

Instead of using traditional thanksgiving objects like pumpkins and gourds in the tablescape, I chose to include foods like grapes, nuts, and bread, with rich fall colors.

    Thanksgiving Table 11

Each place setting probably deserves a pretty name card, but I ran out of time and daylight, so I thought a eucalyptus branch and some blackberries looked pretty enough. And p.s. that bread was delicious! It is Pumpkin Apricot bread I found at Lucky’s Market!

So… I have a new love of aerial shots. I’m not great at them, but I’m learning.

    Thanksgiving Table 3

I thought about pulling out the fancy gathered tablecloth that I sewed last year, but I instead opted for a little more casual look…. something that would beckon you to sit down and enjoy company, munch on some bread and nuts, while the scent of roasted turkey wafts through the air.

So I thought you might like to know price breakdown/sources:

white dishes: world market (already had)

blue and white China: thrifted (already had)

silverware & goblets: thrifted (already had)

    navy napkins: world market ($10)

lace doilies: thrifted ($10 for 5)

Navy runner: I made last year with 2 yards of fabric. I think I spent about $10 with a coupon

white runner: drop cloth, already had

brass candle holders: thrifted, already had

    cutting boards: thrifted, already had

bowls with nuts: bowls I already had, thrifted

centerpiece vase: already had, sprayed gold with leftover paint

grocery store flowers: $15 with lots of leftovers

    Blackberries: $4

    Grand total: Only $40!!

It’s all because I’ve been collecting and making things I love over the years and using them in new combinations with just a few new items, which makes the whole table feel special.

If nothing else I hope you realize how much I love the thrift store! Hahahaha!

    Happy Thanksgiving season!
