A/C Keeps Running but Does Not Lower the Temperature
On very hot days a system may run continuously. Airflow restrictions and thermostat settings are worth checking first.
Step-by-step instructions
- 1
On very hot days, expect the system to run longer to keep up.
- 2
Make sure all vents are open and not blocked by furniture or rugs.
- 3
Replace a dirty filter, the most common airflow restriction.
- 4
Keep blinds closed on sun-facing windows to reduce the heat load.
- 5
If the temperature never reaches the setting after these checks, submit a request.
