Emergency Shutoffs

Electrical Shutoff

Locating your electrical panel and main breaker helps you respond safely if power must be cut.

Safety first

Never open panel covers, touch wiring, or work on live electrical systems. Resetting a labeled breaker is the only resident step.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

Locate your electrical panel now—often in a garage, hallway, or utility area.

  2. 2

Open only the panel door; never remove the inner cover.

  3. 3

Read the labels to identify the breaker for each area of the home.

  4. 4

To reset a tripped breaker, push it fully to Off, then back to On.

  5. 5

If a breaker trips again or feels warm, stop and submit a request.
