How to Light a Water Heater
Some gas water heaters have a pilot that can go out, which results in no hot water.
Safety first
If you smell gas at any point, stop, leave the home, and call 911 from outside. Never attempt a relight when gas odor is present.
Step-by-step instructions

If you smell gas at any point, stop, leave the home, and call 911 from outside.

Locate the gas control valve on the water heater and set it to 'Pilot.'

Follow the lighting instructions printed on the unit's label.

Hold the pilot button as directed, then set the valve back to 'On.'

If the pilot will not stay lit or you are unsure, submit a request.
