A humming or silent disposal is often jammed by a utensil, food, or debris, or needs its reset button pressed.

Never place your hand inside the disposal. Turn the switch off before checking anything.

Step-by-step instructions

Turn the disposal switch OFF before checking anything.

Never put your hand inside the disposal.
- 3
Press the red reset button on the bottom of the unit.
- 4
If it hums, use the hex wrench in the bottom slot to free the motor, then turn it back on.
- 5
If it stays jammed or silent after a reset, submit a request.
