Use a stable step stool on a level surface.

Twist the detector to remove it from its mounting base.

Replace the battery, matching the + and – terminals.
- 4
Reattach the detector and press Test to confirm it sounds.
- 5
If it keeps chirping with a fresh battery, submit a request.
